RESIDENTS in Wrexham and Flintshire have been urged to get rid of blades as part of a national campaign.
Operation Sceptre returns once again this week (until Sunday, November 17).
The initiative takes place twice a year co-ordinated by the National Police Chief’s Council and aims to raise awareness of knife crime, as well as police action in detecting, reducing and preventing it.
Officers undertake a range of activities including targeted operations, engagement and education to reassure young people they are safer not carrying knives, and to walk away from harm.
The week of action is also an opportunity for people to surrender any knives or any bladed articles that could be used as a weapon at one of the amnesty bins.

A spokesperson for NWP's North Flintshire team said: "This week we're supporting #OpSceptre - a national campaign that aims to raise awareness of knife crime and what we are doing to detect, reduce and prevent it.
"All year round we work hard to tackle knife crime and help keep our communities safe. You can help us do this by handing in knives and bladed articles to our amnesty bins located all over north Wales."
Blades can be handed in at; Mold Bay Police Station, Greenfield Recycling Centre, Holywell, Bryn Lane Household Recycling Centre, Wrexham Industrial Estate and Plas Madoc Household Recycling Centre, Wrexham.
If you have concerns, you can give information about knives and knife crime by contacting the Crimestoppers charity anonymously via 0800 555 111.
