PADDY McGuinness was "genuinely in awe" of a Wrexham male choir who sang him off on his epic cycling challenge for Children in Need.

The comedic actor and radio presenter is taking on a 300-mile cycle from Wrexham to Glasgow on a Raleigh Chopper pedal bike from the 1970's.

He started the challenge at Wrexham AFC's SToK Cae Ras stadium on Monday - where he met representatives from the club and Nightingale House Hospice.

Also present was the iconic Rhos Male Voice Choir - who serenaded Paddy as he began his epic journey.

The choir sang the iconic 'Wrexham is the Name' football chant, changing the lyrics to "Stand aside Paddy's coming, Pudsey is the name".

"Paddy looked genuinely in awe at that part," choir secretary Paul Scott said. "You could see the emotion in his face, it was special.

"It was a privilege to be invited by Radio 2 to attend the event, we love supporting charities and jumped at the opportunity to be a part of a Children in Need challenge.

"They asked us to sing Eye of the Tiger from the Rocky films as Paddy started the challenge. It's not one we've ever sang before so it was a case of quickly learning and rehearsing it a few times on the morning.

"It was nice to show him what Wrexham's about and I'm sure he'll remember it."

Paddy made his way through the Garden Village, Rhosrobin, Gwersyllt and Llay areas before crossing over to Flintshire and then on to Chester.

He is due to finish the challenge in Glasgow on Friday.
