TWO MEN who drunkenly attacked a man and a woman during a fight in Wrexham have been jailed.

Thomas Richards, of no fixed abode, and Callum Evans of York Street in Oswestry, appeared before Mold Crown Court for sentencing on Monday, November 11.

Both Richards, 24, and Evans, 26, had previously, at Mold Magistrates on September 12, pleaded guilty to one count each of affray.

Anna Price, prosecuting, told the court that the incident in question took place on Wrexham High Street at around 7.15pm on January 28.

It was then that North Wales Police were alerted to the fight which was captured on CCTV.

The brawl, started by Evans, lasted about four minutes and saw him and Richards attack Andrew Powell-Roberts and his partner Tracey McKenzie.

Footage played out in court shows Evans 'start the violence', by throwing 'repeated punches' at Mr Powell-Roberts who then tries to defend himself.

During the fight, Evans also punches Ms McKenzie before Richards becomes involves and hits Mr Powell-Roberts with a bottle twice and punches him.

He also struck Mr Powell-Roberts while he was on the floor.

Richards can also be seen filming the incident on his mobile phone before getting involved.

Both complainants suffered minor injuries, with cuts to their heads, but neither wanted to make a complaint, the prosecution heard.

Richards and Evans were arrested soon after, not far from where the fight had taken place. They both provided no comment interviews.

The prosecution said that Evans had 13 convictions for 22 offences between 2013 and 2022, including eight for battery.

Richards, meanwhile, had 11 convictions for 17 offences between 2020 and 2024, including for two further batteries which took place just three days after this offence in Wrexham.

Oliver King, defending Richards, said that the defendant has 'expressed remorse and regret' following the incident.

He says Richards was 'drunk and lost his temper' and became involved when he  'believed that his friend was being attacked'.

Alun Williams, defending Evans, said that he was 'clearly someone who needed some help to address a developing pattern of violent offences'.

Sentencing the two defendants, Judge Niclas Parry said: "Lets' not beat about the bush, the people of Wrexham don't have to put up with this."

Addressing Richards, the judge added: "You were enjoying the attack almost unbelievably. You were filming it for distribution on social media."

He added: "You were both off your faces on drink."

Richards and Evans were both sentenced to 10 months in prison for the attack.
