PLANS have been submitted to convert a Flintshire golf clubhouse into holiday lets.

A planning application has been lodged with Flintshire Council to convert a disused clubhouse at Caerwys Golf Club into holiday letting units.

The nine-hole golf club was founded in 1989 but closed in 2019.

There would be associated alterations to the interior and exterior of the building, and the creation of an improved external amenity space.

Planning documents show that each of the holiday lets would include two bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room/kitchen area.

A planning statement said: "Overall, the submitted scheme would allow for a high-quality conversion of a redundant building to provide good quality holiday accommodation.

"A sensitive approach has been taken in the proposed design that would retain the character and appearance of the building with a limited and suitable package of alterations that would ensure that it continues to form an attractive and appropriate feature in the local landscape.

"The result is a scheme that would be a good addition to the area that would respect its setting whilst providing benefits to the local economy. There would also be no harm to the visual or residential amenities, biodiversity, or to the operation or safety of the highway."
