A WREXHAM man who made indecent images of children as young as 10 has been jailed.
Steve Taylor, Heol Bathafarn in Coedpoeth, appeared before Mold Crown Court for sentencing on Monday (November 4).
The 43-year-old had previously admitted making indecent images of children and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
Dafydd Roberts, prosecuting, said the sexual harm prevention order was made in April 2019 at Leicester Crown Court. One of the conditions was that the defendant isn't permitted to use any device unless it is able to maintain and display the history of internet use.
On January 24, 2023, an officer from North Wales Police monitoring the sexual harm prevention order attended Taylor's home address. He examined the defendant's computer, and found the incognito browsing mode had been activated, enabling a private browsing mode that did not retain the history of the internet use.
The court heard that, while the software had deleted a number of files, also discovered on the computer were 42 indecent still images of children - including that of children aged 10.
Roberts had four previous convictions for eight offences, including making indecent images of children, breaching a sexual harm prevention order and indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 14.
Euros Jones, defending, said Taylor would welcome assistance for the "difficulties" he has, and urged the judge to suspend the prison sentence. The defendant also has health problems and is a designated carer for his mother.
Judge Rhys Rowlands sentenced Taylor to 10 months imprisonment.
