Denbighshire libraries are set to host a series of events featuring a range of authors.

The aim is to 'brighten up the cold winter days' by offering residents the chance to get an insight into each author.

The events will kick off with an appearance by Welsh language author Manon Steffan Ros at Denbigh Library on November 18.

With more than 23 adult and children’s books to her name, Ms Ros has won numerous awards including the Wales Book of the Year for adult fiction.

She is also a four-time winner at the Tir na n’Og Wales Children’s Book Awards and won the YOTO Carnegie 2023 medal for writing.

Two days later, on November 20, Prestatyn Library will welcome crime author Kate Ellis.

She has penned 28 novels featuring DI Wesley Peterson and five crime novels with a supernatural twist featuring DI Joe Plantagenet.

Romantic novelist Trisha Ashley and historical novelist Juliet Greenwood will then visit Rhyl Library on November 28.

Ms Ashley has written more than 27 novels, many of which have been Sunday Times bestsellers.

Her latest novel, The Wedding Dress Repair Shop, won the RoNA Award for Popular Fiction in 2024.

Ms Greenwood has published eight historical novels.

Her novel, The Last Train from Paris, based on her mother's experiences in World War 2, became a Kindle bestseller in both the US and the UK.

Million-selling author Simon McCleave will be at St Asaph Library on November 22.

His series of books featuring DI Ruth Hunter started with The Snowdonia Killings, and other titles include The Denbigh Asylum Killings and The Llangollen Killings.

The author events which all start at 2pm, will culminate with Wrexham-based author David Ebsworth at Llangollen Library on December 3.

He will discuss the background of his Wrexham & Chester Victorian Mysteries, including Blood Among The Threads and Death Along The Dee.

Alongside these author events, a murder mystery evening based on The Darkest Evening by Ann Cleeves will be held at Rhuddlan Library on November 21.

Deborah Owen, principal librarian, said: "We hope there’s something for everyone with these author visits.

"Whether you prefer crime, romance or historical fiction, I’d like to invite everyone to come and join us."

Councillor Emrys Wynne, lead member for Welsh language, culture, and heritage, said: "These visits are an opportunity for the people of Denbighshire to gain an insight into a number of popular authors, as well as their published topics.

"There are visits all across the county, which cover many different topics and themes for residents to enjoy."

The events are supported by Denbighshire Leisure and partly funded by the UK Government.

Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to contact their local library for more information or to book a place.
