A TEENAGER from Wrexham, who grew his hair out for over four years has had it cut in aid of a charity close to his heart.
14-year-old Lewis Perrins started growing his hair out in 2020 so that he could 'rock out' when playing the drums.
Four years later and he decided it was time to cut it off, whilst trying to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Lewis' grandad sadly passed away to Prostate Cancer before he was born, and recently a close family friend was diagnosed with the disease.
So far he has raised just over £1,000 on his JustGiving page.
On Wednesday (October 30) Lewis headed down to Off Ur Head barbers in Wrexham city centre to get his long locks cut off by Maria.
Lewis said: "For 4 years I've been growing my hair long so I can rock out as I play the drums, but now the time has come to get it all cut off and raise some money to help Prostate Cancer UK.
"I'm supporting them because Prostate Cancer killed my Grandad just before I was born and I never got the chance to meet him. Dad's told me so much about him, and about his fight with the cancer that he sadly lost whilst still in his 60's.

"Since then a really close family friend has also suffered from the same disease though he was lucky that it was caught in time. I'm hoping my fundraising will help others to get theirs caught in time too."
Following the cut, Lewis' mum, Alison McLean said: "We are both super proud of Lewis making the decision to have his hair cut short and at the same time raising money for such a worthwhile charity.
"When he originally suggested getting it cut we never thought he’d raise over £1,000, it’s a great achievement and his grandad would be especially proud of the money he has raised and bringing the attention to many young men about Prostate Cancer.
"Maria at Off Ur Head is a Master stylist and has totally transformed him."
