A MAN has been jailed for domestic abuse against his partner.

Ben Maddocks, of no fixed abode, but previously from Ewloe, appeared before Wrexham Magistrates Court on Monday, October 28, where he admitted a public order offence.

The 39-year-old was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison, North Wales Police said.

Police said in the early hours of Friday, October 25, officers responded to a report from the victim that Maddocks had been abusive towards her and had assaulted her in a taxi.

She reported he had also taken her phone and tablet and restricted her access to her phone by changing her pin.

Officers visited the address and following the victim’s disclosure, and history of domestic violence, Maddocks was arrested.

The incident also breached a suspended sentence order issued in June 2024 and as a result, Maddocks was charged with using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence.

District Inspector Iwan Jones said: “We are resolute in our determination to pursue individuals who insist on preying on the most vulnerable in our society.

“This court result is testimony to the hard work of officers, and our partner agencies in our continued efforts to protect and support victims of domestic violence and violence against women and girls.

“It isn’t easy to speak up following domestic incidents, but I would reassure anyone that we will always do our utmost to fully investigate any report and bring offenders to justice.”
