Did you Know…?

Did you know that most of our libraries can facilitate school visits? We love helping classes of children learn how to choose books for them to read for pleasure plus how to choose the right book to help with their classroom studies. We also have activities for them to do when they're with us to help them feel relaxed and comfortable enough for them to return with their families after school.

Book review

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi, translated from the Japanese by Geoffrey Trousselot

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

In a small back alley in Tokyo, there is a café, which has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than 100 years, nothing unusual. This coffee shop offers its customers the unique experience, the chance to time travel. Would you if you could, time travel? In this book we meet four visitors, each of whom is hoping to make use of this time-travelling offer, in order to confront the man who left them, receive a letter from their husband whose memory has began to fade, see their sister one last time, and meet the daughter they never got to know. This journey does not come without risks and rules. The customer must sit in a particular seat, they cannot leave the café, and they must without fail return to the present before the coffee gets cold. A beautiful crafted story that questions, what would you do if you could travel in time? Who would you want to meet for one last time? Shan
