A FLINTSHIRE opticians celebrated a recent refurbishment by reuniting three generations of owners spanning over 30 years of providing eyecare to the community.

Roberts and Polson opticians, in Flint, recently underwent a total refurbishment of its Church Street practice. To celebrate, the owner, Gordon Elliott, invited along two previous owners, Steve Cook and Diane Polson to join him at an opening event last Wednesday (October 23).

The mayor of Flint, councillor Mel Buckley, did the honours of cutting a ribbon to mark the reopening, as clients and colleagues were invited along to help celebrate.

(Image: UGC) Mr Elliott said that the refurbishment project started a year ago with the aim of rejuvenating a tired premises into somewhere patients would be excited to attend.

​He wished to extend his thanks, in particular, to Flintshire County Council for its part in the process through awarding partial funding in the form of a town centre property improvement grant.

Mr Elliott said: "The practice closed for four weeks to allow the works to take place and during that time the community of Flint really stepped up to help us out.

"Local businesses helped with the logistics and we are particularly grateful to Flint Catholic Church for allowing us to use their property as a temporary base to allow us to continue to serve our clients, as best as we could whilst the works took place."

He added: "We are so pleased to be able to offer our clients somewhere comfortable and stylish to come, so that they really get the chance to relax and enjoy the experience of their next sight test."
