DETAILS of a major bonfire incident in Cheshire that required engines from multiple stations have been released by the county’s fire service.
Five Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) appliances, including from Audlem, were sent to Wrenbury Hall Drive, in Wrenbury, between Whitchurch and Nantwich on Wednesday this week, around 8.40pm.
The road is the driveway up to Wrenbury Hall and also the Wingate Centre.
A spokesman for CFRS explained that the service’s initial response was required to be widened to tackle the large bonfire.
They said: “A large bonfire that was unattended required firefighters to use two hose reels to put it out.
“Extra fire engines were requested to assist with a water shuttle.
“Due to the run-off from the bonfire, an environment boom was set up around the area to prevent liquids entering drains.
“Firefighters dragged debris away from the fire to fully extinguish it.”
