REDROW has re-submitted plans for more than 1,500 homes in Wrexham.

The company has re-submitted its planning application for the Lower Berse Farm develpment, which would be situated on the southern side of Ruthin Road, near Ysgol Clywedog.

Redrow said it is re-submitting the plans following Wrexham Council's adoption of the Local Development Plan - which it had twice previously rejected, leading to a successful High Court challenge by developers.

The land earmarked forms part of the Local Development Plan.

A planning statement said: "A revised version of Planning Policy Wales has been released. The hitherto adopted Unitary Development Plan has been formally replaced by the now adopted Local Development Plan.

"It is, therefore, considered appropriate to re-appraise the development proposals in the light of the current policies.

"This process will bring the policy assessment of the proposal fully up to date and, as will be demonstrated, further reinforce the reasons why planning permission should be granted. The starting point is, of course, that the application proposal is allocated for development in the adopted development plan, the LDP, and this was prepared having full regard to the policy guidance within Planning Policy Wales."

It added: "The purpose of this new application is to enable negotiations with the council to continue so that, hopefully, we can arrive at a position where you will be able to report the application to the planning committee with a recommendation for approval.”

The plans remain the same as when they were first lodged last year - with Redow looking to build 1,520 homes plus associated roads, open space, community facilities, a site for a primary school.

The proposals have been met with local opposition - with Plaid Cymru councillors leading the fight against the plans.

Hundreds of people signed a petition against the development, and Wrexham's Senedd Member, Lesley Griffiths, urged people to make their voices heard.
