THE DIRECTOR of a film set in Flintshire says she is "utterly overwhlemed" that it scooped two BAFTA Cymru awards.

Chuck Chuck Baby won Best Feature Film and its director, Janis Pugh, took home the Breakthrough Cymru award at the event which took place on Sunday, October 20.

The film is set in Flint and filming locations across Flintshire were used.

Chuck Chuck Baby, which was in cinemas in July, was given four out of five stars by Observer and Guardian, and was BBC critic Mark Kermode's film of the week.

The film is centred on a group of women who work together at a chicken factory in Flintshire. Director Janis Pugh, who hails from Flint, worked at the chicken factory in Deeside - from which she took much of the inspiration for the film.

It stars Louise Brealey (Sherlock) and Annabel Scholey (The Sixth Commandment) and features several locations across Flintshire, including the Duke of Lancaster ship in Mostyn and Jubilee (Blue) bridge in Deeside.

Janis Pugh said on receiving the awards: "Utterly overwhelmed with joy for everyone who played a role in bringing Chuck Chuck Baby to the screen. From cast to crew, to the community of Flint - I want to say a huge thank you.

"To be nominated amongst the finest Welsh talent was incredible, but to come away with two awards was just unbelievable. We’re all still in shock."
