A WREXHAM charity shop is closing its branch after over five-years supporting the community in the city centre.

St Vincent de Paul Society, which operates across England and Wales, is on a mission to provide practical support and fellowship while tackling the causes of poverty.

In a sad announcement, Wrexham branch manager Clair Shone has confirmed the shop, situated at 13-16 Hope Street, will be closing down next month.

The decision has been made due to increasing costs making it difficult to operate in the city centre.

Clair said: "Due to ever increasing costs the society has had to make some difficult decisions and sadly the Wrexham Community Shop is one of them.

"We will close on Saturday 16th November so we will NOT be able to take any more donations after this week (Sat 26th Oct).

"As we go into November we will start our closing down sales so keep an eye out for some bargains.

"We, myself especially, are extremely saddened by this news after five and a half years in Wrexham.

"The support you have given us has been amazing and I, as always, thank you. We hope to see you all before we close."

The shop, which puts the community at the heart of everything it does, sells a large range of quality preloved goods at reasonable prices.

In September 2023, the team moved into a more spacious unit, the former QD building on Hope Street, where it has been for just over a year.

With the closing of the Wrexham branch, it leaves just eight other St Vincent's shops in Wales, with two along the north Wales coast.
