A mum's passion for flowers and creativity has blossomed into a thriving wreath-making business that's quickly gaining popularity across Chester and Flintshire.
After years of creating her own floral decorations and working for another local wreath-making company, Alice Cullen decided to turned her hobby into a full-time business venture and branch out alone.
Her new business, The Wreath Boutique, is fast becoming a hit with customers who are impressed with her stunning and unique seasonal designs and are keen to support an up and coming local business.
Alice, from Ewloe, said: "There have been a number of new customers who have been excited to find me on Facebook and Instagram. They love to support local businesses and are happy to see a new wreath-making company in the area.
"The feedback has been really positive so far – I've even had a customer come from Ruthin to collect a wreath as they're happy there's a local wreath maker in North Wales again! People really do like to support local. I also like to think I've got my own unique style which I carry through the seasons."
One of the key features of Alice's wreaths is that they are made entirely from faux flowers and foliage, which makes them re-usable year after year.
She often includes her favourite flowers, such as hydrangeas and peonies in her impressive designs, but adds a special seasonal touch to each wreath.
"I like to add a little something extra depending on the season - such as a nutcracker or bells for Christmas, skulls for Halloween or eggs for Easter," she explains. "I can't wait to show everyone my full Christmas range, there'll be lots of styles ranging from traditional fruit wreaths to wild foliage wreaths, candy cane and bauble wreaths. Everyone's doors deserve to be spruced up at Christmas!
"I get ideas for my designs while walking the dog or doing the school run. Sometimes I'll make a wreath, photograph it and leave it a few days before adding or changing something until it feels right."
And for anyone considering following their passion and starting up their own business, Alice suggests just going for it.
"I kept finding reasons not to, and now everyone keeps saying I bet I wish I'd taken the leap sooner. I've got lots of ideas I'm really excited about and am lucky I have a great support network of family and friends who all help me in different ways so it's all going well so far. It's hard work but if you put the effort in you'll see the benefits."
