THE team at a North Wales animal rescue centre is looking for new homes for their adorable residents.

North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) have cats, dogs, horses and some smaller animals, all hoping to find their forever home.

The staff and volunteers at the Trelogan-based charity, in Flintshire, know the animals as individuals, and therefore know what kind of home they are more likely to thrive in.

Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit or horse, staff are on hand to advise on the character and suitability of each.

They also make sure potential new owners are aware of the ongoing costs of a pet, including food and vet bills, which can often be for unexpected treatment.

But thankfully there are plenty of responsible, loving people and families looking to give an animal a loving new home.

And there are always animals of all types, ages and needs that will be the perfect match.

Here we meet just some of those at NCAR looking for a new home...

• For more details, please visit ncar.org.uk or if you would like to support the charity without adopting, you can visit their cafe, open from 10.30am to 3.30pm. They also accept donations at the centre between 10am and 4pm.

Pumpkin, available for adoption at NCAR.

Pumpkin, available for adoption at NCAR.

• Three-year-old Pumpkin is a beautiful girl who came in as a stray. She was quite timid when she first arrived but got to know all of the staff quickly and soon gained her confidence. She can still be quite shy when meeting new people but it doesn’t take much to win her over. She is ideally looking for a home with sensible children 12+. Pumpkin is an active girl and really likes to be out and about on walks and exploring new places, she is looking for a home with people who will provide her with plenty of physical exercise, as well as mental stimulation in order to meet her needs. We have been introducing Pumpkin to other dogs and she generally gets on well with them, she can be a little unsure when they start to try and play with her, but we feel this is down to a lack of socialisation. We do feel like she has the potential to live with a compatible dog, as long as the introductions went well here at the rescue.

Oliver, available for adoption at NCAR.

• Oliver is a gorgeous boy of about three-years-old, who arrived with us as a stray. He is a lovely, friendly boy who loves his food and being with you. He is looking for a home with a good outdoor area for him to explore once he has settled into his new home. Oliver can be rehomed with sensible children 8+ as long as meets went well here at the rescue. We have no history on Oliver living with other animals, so for this reason we feel it may be best for him to go to a home where he is the only pet.

Lola, available for adoption at NCAR.

Lola, available for adoption at NCAR.

• Lola is a five-year-old labrador cross who came into us as a stray. She is a friendly girl who loves meeting new people. She is very affectionate and loves to have her belly rubbed. She is very overweight at the moment but we have started her on a diet which will need continuing when she goes to her new home. Lola is house trained and she has been used to being left on her own for a few hours during the day with no issues. She is strong on lead and would definitely benefit from further lead training. She loves to play, especially with footballs. She can be rehomed with sensible children 10+. Lola unfortunately was never socialised much around other dogs, she doesn’t usually pay much attention to them when out and about but can be very unsure if they get too close to her. So Lola is looking for a home where she will be the only pet and will get all of the attention to herself.

Elsa, available for adoption at NCAR.

Elsa, available for adoption at NCAR.

• Two-year-old Elsa came into us as she was no longer wanted and had just had three kittens in the garden. Elsa has been in a foster home since being taken in by the rescue, where she has been a good mum to her kittens. We are looking for a quiet home for her where after a settling in period she would like access to a garden to explore in a quiet area roadwise. Elsa is a beautiful white cat with odd coloured eyes but she will need to have sunblock applied to her ears prior to going outside on sunny days to protect her from skin cancer. Elsa could live with older sensible teenagers.

• Nine-month-old staffy coss Jony is such a sweet girl who came into us as a stray. Jony was extremely frightened when she first arrived and it is quite evident she has not seen much of the world. She is underweight and definitely has some muscle to gain but she is already starting to look better. She is shy of new people but as long as you are calm she will approach in her own time and then loves getting tickles. She really likes her food too, so treats definitely help to gain her trust. She is looking for a home with sensible teenagers 14+. We have started to introduce her to other dogs but she is quite timid of them at the moment. We will continue to socialise her with other dogs during her stay with us to build up her confidence. She does have the potential to live with a well-socialised and calm dog as long as the introductions went well here at the rescue.
