NATURAL Resources Wales (NRW) is warning that 'further impact is still possible' following this week's floods in Flintshire.

Heavy rainfall hit the county on Wednesday (October 16), leaving many roads closed.

Homes were flooded and some people were even evacuated from their houses following the floods.

Among the worst hit areas was Sandycroft where people's homes were 'left under water'.

NRW says its teams are continuing to monitor areas throughout Flintshire which could be at risk of 'further impact'' over the coming days.

Among them are the 'Hawarden Embankment' area of the River Dee including Queensferry, Sandycroft, Saltney and Connah's Quay.

NRW said: "There is a risk of flooding as a result of the combination of the high tides and weather conditions between Thursday evening (October 17) and Saturday morning (October 19). Conditions are expected to remain unsettled until early next week and further impacts may still be possible.

"Be careful on coastal footpaths, roads, low lying land, close to the estuary. We will continue to monitor the situation."

NRW will also be keeping an eye on the following areas;

  • The area alongside the Northern Embankment of the River Dee, including Deeside Industrial Park, Garden City, Sealand and part of Chester West Employment Park
  • Communities, businesses and isolated properties along the River Dee including Erbistock, Plas Devon, Almere and Trevalyn Meadows - where flooding to properties is 'possible'.
  • River Alyn at Rossett - Parts of the village, including Burton Road, Station Road, The Copse, Chester Road and properties adjacent to Mill Leat, where flooding to properties is 'possible'.
