SOME ROADS in Flintshire remain closed this morning (October 18), two days after floods hit the region.

On Wednesday (October 16), heavy rainfall fell over north Wales, with Flintshire and Wrexham being the worst affected areas.

Countless roads were impacted/closed, homes were flooded and some people were even evacuated from their houses.

Among the worst hit areas was the village of Sandycroft, which has seen homes left 'under water' once again.

And roads in that area and elsewhere remain closed this morning, North Wales Police have confirmed.

Flintshire Council has said it is 'continuing to focus on clean-up, clearing debris off carriageways and clearing watercourses and culverts where feasible'.

A statement added: "Once water levels have reduced, inspections will be resumed to identify any damage to the highway network, and repairs will be prioritised within budget constraints. Flintshire County Council does not have any additional funding to deal with this type of event.

“Council flood risk management teams will also continue to work with all responding agencies such as Natural Resources Wales, Welsh Water and the established flood groups to assist with investigations and recovery in the areas affected.”
