MEMBERS of Wrexham Youth Justice Service have hosted a charity bake sale to raise important funds for a male suicide prevention charity.

Over £500 has been raised in support Andy’s Mans Club who hold weekly group sessions at the cafe space at the Rebuild With Hope site.

The group chose to support the worthy cause as one of the young people has a relative who is a peer support/advocate for Andy’s Man Club in Wrexham.

Wrexham Youth Justice Service planned the event recently with the group designing posters, they created a menu of cakes to sell, and set up a GoFundMe page for people to make their donations.

Following baking sessions and cake decorating sessions, the group sold the cakes across a coffee morning event at the Youth Justice Service offices, and at a pop up cake stall at the Guildhall for council members, as well as through a delivery service to partner agencies and colleagues in the city centre.

Cllr Phil Wynn, Lead Member for Education, with responsibility for Youth Justice Service, said: “The planning and execution of the charity bake sale was a great credit to the staff and youngsters.

"The members of Wrexham Youth Justice Service should be really proud of their efforts, which has resulted in a fantastic amount of money being raised for a very worthy cause. Well done to everyone involved.”

Andy’s Mans Club is a male suicide prevention charity established in 2016 after the tragic loss of Andrew Roberts to suicide aged 23.

The charity facilitates non-professional peer-to-peer support groups across the UK which any man can attend who is over the age of 18.

Sessions provide a confidential non-judgmental space for men to come together to chat about anything that they would like to get off of their chest. They have no waiting list, no referral or signing in process.

They currently hold weekly sessions in Wrexham city centre on Monday nights 7pm-9pm (except on bank holidays).
