HUNDREDS of Flintshire residents are set to receive ‘life-changing’ new kitchens and bathrooms over the next 12 months.
Flintshire County Council has partnered with Bolton-headquartered construction and development specialists Seddon and national charity, Care & Repair, to make the upgrades to people’s homes.
The works will include new kitchens, bathrooms and wet rooms being installed in 240 homes across Flintshire, including a raft of upgrades for people with disabilities and mobility issues.
Flintshire County Council has committed to building more than 700 new homes in the county alongside its usual repairs programme.
Cabinet member for housing, councillor Sean Bibby, said: “Flintshire County Council is looking forward to forging a new long term relationship with our partners, Seddon.
"We are confident this will be of great benefit to our customers over the next few years; improving their homes and future proofing them for years to come.”
Care & Repair is committed to helping people stay in their own homes for longer, living independently and with dignity. The organisation connects housing, health and social care in ways that improve older people’s whole quality of life
Wendy Bowden, CEO of Care and Repair North East Wales, said: “We are delighted to work in partnership with a company aligned to our own values of excellence and client centred approaches.
"This will help us meet our key strategic objectives of improving housing conditions and wellbeing for the residents of Flintshire.”

Stephen Jones, head of delivery for refurbishment and retrofit at Seddon, said: “We’re committed to providing the maximum value we can with projects like this. Utilising local subcontractors and labourers will ensure good local knowledge and that the project is delivered to our expert standards.
“These upgrades will be life-changing for residents. Partnering with Flintshire Council and Care & Repair will ensure that we’re making the right decision for the people we’re working with and their communities.”
To ensure that the work is being undertaken efficiently and effectively, Seddon will establish a site base within Care & Repair’s North and East Wales office in Shotton to facilitate a rapid rollout for the programme of works.
Seddon will also be feeding back into the local community, supporting local sports clubs and charities.
