HALLOWEEN is fast-approaching and there isn't long left to select the perfect pumpkin from your nearest patch.
Yet, this year, families across the UK have been warned of the potential pumpkin shortages due to supply issues and poor weather forecasts for crops.
The warning circulates every year, and so we decided to ask experts in Wrexham whether there is any truth to it.
At Bellis Brothers Farm Shop in Holt, the pick your own pumpkins and spooky maize maze experience is creating memorable moments this Halloween for many families.
While everyone needs to book a free ticket in advance (one ticket per family), there appear to be enough pumpkins to get stuck in. In fact, they have a variety of sizes to choose from.
Adrian Marks, farm manager at Bellis Brothers said: "Every year the rumours of pumpkin shortages go round but there would appear to be more credence to them this year with a lot of drilled pumpkin crops failing.
"We have received more requests to wholesale our pumpkins this year than any other years previously.
"Despite conditions, our crop has done really well and we look forward to welcoming people to the farm for PYO (pick your own) pumpkins this year."
Another popular spot, the Christmas Farm in Llay, is also open for pumpkin picking and the maize maze at weekends until October 31, between 10am and 5pm.
A spokesperson said: "We did have some failures in certain varieties this year down to the weather and there being hardly any pollinators flying around, but, we planted a lot more in anticipation of failures (21 different types).
"So, in respect of how many pumpkins we ended up with, we have actually not done too bad."

There is also reindeer feeding, hot chocolate and marshmallow toasting - the perfect autumnal day out for the whole family.
Mostyn Kitchen Garden in Holywell has confirmed they will not be doing 'pick your own' pumpkins this year due to other work commitments.
Swans Farm Shop, Mold, is also hosting pumpkin picking, with prices starting at just £1. No booking is required, but sensible footwear is required.
On social media, a spokesperson said: "Two pumpkin patches with a great selection of orange, striped, green, yellow and white pumpkins in a variety of sizes."
So, with just two-weeks left until Halloween, families looking to grab a pumpkin for carving or baking are encouraged to get down to their nearest patch.
