THREE MEN from Wrexham who carried out a series of burglaries against Asian families will only have to repay a fraction of the amount they had benefitted from.

Todd Wickens and Michael Berry, both of Homestead Lane in Wrexham, and Kew Delaney of Ruthin Road in Coedpoeth, appeared before Mold Crown Court for a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing on Tuesday, October 15.

The trio were previously sentenced for their part in the burglaries which took place at homes across Wrexham between September and November of last year.

They were sentenced in April for their parts in burglaries targeting Asian families in an attempt to get hold of gold and cash.

Properties were either accessed via unsecured windows or by forcing entry - before the interiors were "ransacked."

Thousands of pounds in cash was taken from several of the homes, in addition to large quantities of gold and jewellery.

In their latest court appearance, Wickens, Berry and Delaney were ordered to repay some of the money they had benefitted from as a result of the burglaries.

In total, they had benefitted from £124,437.65 between them.

Earlier this month, one of their fellow burglars, Addie Piggott, was revealed to have benefitted from £52,265. He was ordered to repay £200.

In the case of the other three defendants, Elen Owen, prosecuting, told the court that both Wickens, 35, and Delaney, 34, had benefitted from a sum of £53,293,96 each.

A compensation order was made in court for Wickens to repay £2,750, while Delaney was ordered to repay £780.

Berry, 24, meanwhile was said to have 'no assets' at present and, as such, a nominal order was made, ordering him to repay just £1.

He had benefitted from £17,849.73 during the burglaries, the prosecution said.

Judge Rhys Rowlands agreed to the terms set out in court, ordering each defendant to repay their respective sums within three months time.

Wickens is currently serving four years for the crimes committed, while Delaney was jailed for three years and four months and Berry received a term of two years and six months.
