A MAIN road in Wrexham near the Maelor Hospital is reopening ahead of schedule following major works.
A stretch of Croesnewydd Road is set to reopen tomorrow (Tuesday, October 15) following a six-week one-way closure to allow for essential gas works to take place by Wales & West Utilities.
Works were conducted from the roundabout at Rhyd Broughton Lane to Ty Powys Nurses Home - in a north-westerly direction.
Motorists have said the works caused "mayhem" getting to and from the hospital, particularly during rush-hour periods.
Wales & West has said the work was essential to keep the gas flowing safely and reliably to local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations to come.

The road was expected to remain closed until November, however, due to there being no engineering difficulties, motorists can expect no further delays in the area going forward.
A Wrexham council spokesperson said: "Croesnewydd Road will be re-opened tomorrow (Tues 15th October) in both directions due to completion of the Gas Works being undertaken by Wales & West Utilities."
Wales & West Utilities' Adam Smith who managed this gas pipe upgrade work said: “The work was essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.”
