A UNIQUE and colourful mural has appeared in Flintshire thanks to a north Wales artist and his eager student assistants.
Art hero Andy 'Dimeone' Birch from Colwyn Bay has completed yet another masterpiece after being asked to design a graffiti wall showcasing Holywell's culture and history by the town council.
The community project, funded by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, has received huge praise on social media. The artwork occupies the space approaching the underground tunnel along the A5026 just across from a piece Andy created back in 2008 on the 'Tesco side' of the road - a full circle moment.
The mural features landmarks associated with Holywell, including the coastal path, the bridge at Greenfield Valley, the Town Hall, Greenfield Docks, and the Old Victoria Hotel.
Andy said: "I travel across north Wales and host workshops with younger people, specifically in schools, to create murals.
"I also do commissions for businesses, shops, people's homes, gyms and garages, etc.
"I really enjoy doing the workshops and working with communities to create art. For me, if I get the chance, I love doing graffiti the most as it takes me back to what I did most as a kid with graffiti letters and characters."
Holywell project took just over four-days to complete with the help of students from Ysgol Treffynnon who came out for sessions every morning and afternoon.
TheStudents helped to prepare the wall which included priming it. On the second day, Andy turned to spray paint to outline a few rough ideas and shapes. The children then filled in the shapes before Andy went back over to add detail and really define the piece.
