A former DJ and broadcaster turned Wrexham University lecturer has appeared as a guest on James O'Brien's popular podcast, Full Disclosure.

Now a senior lecturer in creative media at the university, Graeme Park shared insights from his varied career on the LBC host's weekly show.

Mr Park—one of the UK's house music movement pioneers—is best known for his nine-year residency at Manchester's iconic superclub, The Hacienda.

He has been lecturing at Wrexham University since 2008.

During the episode, he spoke about the accidental nature of his career-defining moments.

He said: "I became a DJ by accident, I ended up on the radio by accident, becoming a senior lecturer by accident.

"When I get an opportunity and I think – oh, I like this and it appears I’m pretty good at it, I will grab onto it with two hands and make sure that I can then keep that position.

“That’s what I tell my students – I point out [to them], don’t get too hung up on what you want to do but if you get an opportunity and you like it, then you need to grab it and work at it, and that’s what I’ve done all my life.”

Speaking about being asked to appear on Full Disclosure, Mr Park said: “It was amazing to be asked to appear on the podcast – for a couple of reasons really, the fact that previous guests have been really massive names, so I couldn’t believe that he wanted to speak to me of all people but also I’m a fan of James, I’m a regular listener of his weekday morning show on LBC.

“It was a pleasure to speak to him – and what was nice was that before the recording I didn’t know what he was going to ask me, which I always prefer.

"I find that approach more enjoyable – and I think it makes for a more interesting experience as a listener.”
