A FLINTSHIRE entertainer is looking to raise funds to buy a motorhome so he can devote the next two years of his life to charitable work.

Darren Cook, known as DJ Cookie, has done around 2,000 charity discos and other events in the Flintshire area for over 20 years.

And he is now looking to go out on the road for the next two years to attend charitable events and help people on a daily basis.

"I give the keys for my flat in Buckley back on October 20," Darren said. "I'll either have a motorhome by then or will use money raised in the GoFundMe page to buy a vehicle I can live in.

"Some people might call me crazy but I just can't help it - helping people is and has been my life."

"MRSEEN, my cameraman, is joining me and he and I plan on do something to help someone all over the north west and perhaps beyond. Whether it be doing charity concerts, or helping people in need - we want to do something every day for the next two years."

Darren is appealing for business to donate a motorhome.

"If we get that, we can get on the road on October 20. We would use the money raised in the GoFundMe towards helping charities for adults with leanings difficulties, homeless and families struggling with children with ADHD - things like that.

"The names of everyone who donates will get printed onto the outside of the mobile home, so everyone can see who has helped the two-year journey become reality."

The GoFundMe has so far raised £1,400 and can be accessed via https://bit.ly/3NmhrZy.

Darren has dedicated his life to supporting others - which has left him impoverished and even homeless. "I was homeless during covid," he said. "I managed to get a flat in Buckley but was on universal credit - I had £9 a month to my name after bills.

"I've had to lend money off my mum to fill up the car so I can attend events. I struggle every week with money but I'll never give up what I do - I love it too much.

"Every day I have people come up saying I remember you doing this and that. There’s not a pub between Holywell, Mold, Flint and Deeside I’ve not done an event at. It’s not a job for me, it's what I live for."
