A WOMAN from Wrexham who subjected her partner to a “vicious” attack after a night out ended in an argument has been spared jail.

Siousxie Roberts, 35, of Weale Court, was sentenced to 20 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, at Mold Crown Court today (October 8).

She had previously admitted two counts each of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation, and one charge each of threats to kill and common assault of an emergency worker.

Prosecuting, Dafydd Roberts told the court that, on the evening of May 18, Roberts and her partner, Tanya Williams, were out in Wrexham, but an argument about a spilled drink led Ms Williams to go back to Roberts’ home.

When Roberts arrived home herself in the early hours of May 19, she was angry at Ms Williams for having left her, and punched her and threw her to the floor.

She then wrapped her hands around Ms Williams’ throat, before throwing a television and a bedroom unit at her while she was still on the floor.

Ms Williams tried to barricade herself in a room but Roberts forced her way in, before striking her to the eye, pinning her to the floor, and strangling her again, while telling her: “I’m going to f***ing kill you.”

Roberts later “charged” at PC William Roberts, one of the officers who attended her home after police had been called, before she was then taken to the floor by his colleagues and detained.

In a statement, Ms Williams said she is “heartbroken”, as she thought she had “found the love of her life” in Roberts.

She now feels “unable to trust anyone”, and will “never forget” the attack, which left her fearing for her life.

Defending Roberts, who had previously been convicted for domestic violence towards an ex-partner, Matthew Dunford said she has mental health issues, but is “engaging” with them.

Roberts, he said, has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and emotionally unstable personality disorder, and takes medication to treat depression.

But Mr Dunford said she has a realistic prospect of rehabilitation, and is currently enjoying a painting and decorating course at college.

Sentencing, Judge Nicola Jones condemned Roberts’ “sustained and vicious attack”, and told her that her behaviour was “despicable”.

She reserved Roberts’ case to herself, warning her: “If there is any repeat in the next two years, (you will be) back before me, and I’ll send you to prison.”

Roberts is to complete 30 days’ rehabilitation activity, and a 120-day period of monitored alcohol abstinence.

A restraining order was imposed, prohibiting her from contacting Ms Williams for 10 years.

She is to pay £150 in costs, and a £187 statutory surcharge.
