A PRISONER who kicked another to the head at HMP Berwyn has had time added on to his current sentence for the assault.
Callum Woods appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday, October 8.
The 24-year-old had previously pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) during a Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing on Friday, September 27.
Catherine Elvin, prosecuting, said that the incident took place at the Wrexham-based prison on October 13 of last year.
CCTV footage played out in court showed the assault unfold.
It showed the victim, Kyle Dolling, crouching over to pick something up outside of a cell.
While he does that, Woods can be seen running over and landing a single kick to his head.
The assault left the victim 'heavily dazed' and with his legs in the air.
He was also left with 'reddening' and 'swelling' to his face.
Mr Dolling refused to make a statement on what happened and insisted that 'it was just a stye' on his face.
It was only when prison staff checked CCTV that the full extent of the injury was revealed.
Other prisoners helped the victim back to his feet and into the cell.

The prosecution said that Woods was currently serving a 13 year and 9 month sentence for drugs and firearm matters.
Olivia Belle, defending, said that Woods has had 'no other issues' since being at HMP Berwyn in 2021.
She added that he had 'believed Mr Dolling had been stealing from him' and that he let his 'anger and frustration get the better of him'.
Woods also said he was 'sorry' and he 'wished he had handled it differently'.
Judge Timothy Petts added 19 weeks onto Woods' current sentence to run consecutively.
