AN INCIDENT in the city centre of Chester led to a major emergency services response.
Two fire engines, plus the aerial ladder platform from Chester, one fire engine from Ellesmere Port, one fire engine from Congleton, the high-volume water pump from Powey Lane, and two fire engines from Deeside (North Wales Fire and Rescue Service), attended the scene in Bridge Street at about 3.20am yesterday (Sunday, October 6).
A cordon was put in place and the road was closed for a number of hours.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire crews were called to reports of smoke logging at a commercial premises on one of Bridge Street's Rows.
"A team of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus took two hose reel jets into the premises to investigate and locate the fire.
"The fire was found in the kitchen area and extinguished.
"Other firefighters ensured there was no spread to neighbouring properties and carried out a 360 review of the building affected."
The fire was extinguished by 5am and firefighters naturally ventilated the property.
The spokesperson added: "Smoke alarms were set off in neighbouring premises due to smoke travel.
"Crews also worked to clear the smoke from these properties.
"A fire investigator has been called to determine the cause of the fire. No casualties have been reported during this incident."
Fire crews left the scene and the road was reopened shortly after 6am..
