A MASSIVE £75m investment into a cereal factory shows that 'Wrexham is open for business', according to a council member.

Earlier today, the Leader confirmed that Kellanova, formerly Kellogg's Company, had announced its plans to invest that sum into the Bryn Lane Kellogg's site in Wrexham.

It is the company’s largest single investment in British cereal production in over 30 years.

The factory opened in 1978 and is Kellanova’s largest Special K plant in the world.

Other brands including All Bran, Bran Flakes and Fruit ’n Fibre are also produced there.

The production of other Kellogg’s cereal brands made in the UK – including Corn Flakes, and Crunchy Nut – will transition to Wrexham as the company winds down production at its Trafford Park factory, which is due to close in late 2026 as previously announced.

The Wrexham plant’s current annual cereal production will more than double, establishing it as the largest cereal manufacturing site in Europe, producing around 1.5 million boxes of iconic cereal brands every day.

The company already employs 350 people at the site, with 130 further jobs set to be created through the new investment from Kellanova.

Councillor Nigel Williams, lead member for economy and tourism at Wrexham Council, hailed the investment as 'fantastic news' for the area.

Cllr Williams added: "This investment will create an additional 130 skilled and well-paid jobs, and will consolidate the plant’s long-term future, making it the largest producer of cereal in Europe.
