WREXHAM Police FC host a team of Wrexham AFC legends this Sunday at Airbus' Airfield stadium, in aid of a charity that has caught the hearts of all involved.
It was back in February when Sergeant Dave Smith first came across the Boxes of Sunshine charity, when they were the designated matchday charity at Wrexham's home game against Notts County.
He approached some of the volunteer bucket collectors, and learned how Boxes of Sunshine was started by local parents, Kev and Lynsey Hill, in memory of their daughter Kirsten, who passed away in late 2021 following a short and sudden battle with leukaemia.
The charity was set up to give a little sunshine to the lives of young people throughout the UK suffering with chronic illnesses or long term health conditions. The sunshine is provided in the form of a postal gift box, which contains 11 items, which have been specially chosen to give to bring joy or comfort.

The game on Sunday kicks off at 2pm, and promises to be a fantastic occasion.
The Wrexham Legends are keeping their starting XI close to their chests so far, but one true legend of the Wrexham club has been announced - a certain super Steve Watkin - scorer of the winning goal in the 1992 third round FA Cup tie against the mighty Arsenal.
To see Steve and the other legends battle it out against the best that Wrexham Police have to offer, head down to the Airfield Stadium, Broughton CH4 0DR from 1pm (for 2pm kick off).
Entry is via a discretionary donation on the gate, and there will be charity volunteers on hand to to tell you a bit more about Boxes of Sunshine or to accept additional donations.
Wrexham Police FC have also set up a GoFundMe page if giving online from the comfort of your own home is preferable. Just follow this link: https://tinyurl.com/ytsxyhhp.
