A WREXHAM group offering a real lifeline to men in the area has found itself a new home.

Andy's Man Club launched its first north Wales branch in the city in April 2022.

The group, aimed at challenging the stigma surrounding men's mental health, has proved a vital tool to helping many in the community ever since.

Up until now, the team has been based at the Yellow and Blue Hub in Eagles Meadow, providing free-to-attend sessions on a weekly basis.

But with the news that Yellow and Blue will soon be closing, there concerns among locals over where the club could be based in future.

However, the charity has confirmed its sessions will soon be held from within the cafe space at the Rebuild With Hope site, which is also at Eagles Meadow.

Announcing the move via social media, the Andy's Man Club team for Wrexham wrote: "NEW VENUE ALERT. The secret is out.. Andy's Man Club Wrexham have secured a new venue thanks to the kindness of Rebuild With Hope Wrexham who have given us their cafe space to use for our sessions.

"We will have a facilitator posted at our old venue for the first few weeks to catch anyone who misses this notice. We're not going anywhere."

On a national scale, Andy's Man Club was founded in the aftermath of the suicide of Andy Roberts, a young man from the north east, by his brother-in-law and former rugby star Luke Amber and his mother, Elaine.

The aim of the UK charitable organisation is to get men to open up so that it never reaches the point where they consider taking their own life. It provides group based and one-on-one support.

Starting seven years ago in Halifax, the first group was attended by nine men.

Luke and Elaine were determined to grow the organisation and reach 10 groups in 10 years. Now, over 180 groups later, almost 4,500 men attend every single week.

For a long time, the only group in north Wales had been the one in Wrexham.

However, a Deeside branch was launched at Coleg Cambria in Connah's Quay earlier this year as the group expanded into Flintshire to support even more north Wales residents.

A date for when the Wrexham branch moves into its new home will be posted on social media in the coming weeks.
