MULTIPLE flood alerts remain in place across Flintshire and Wrexham today (Tuesday, October 1) after a day of heavy rainfall.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) issued alerts for the River Alyn at Rossett, Alyn catchment, River Dee communities from Llangollen to Trevalyn Meadows, River Alyn at Mold and the Lower Dee catchment.

For the River Alyn at Mold, NRW said: "River levels are rising. Flooding to property is possible. Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected. Flood defences are now in operation and inspections taking place.

"Overtopping and/or breaches of these defences may cause flooding to properties at risk. The rainfall is forecast to ease by approximately midnight.

"We will continue to monitor the situation."
