A GLUTEN-FREE artisan bakery opened its doors in Wrexham today (September 28), with a host of customers sampling the delicious treats on offer.
Grazed Bakery, on the Vauxhall Industrial Estate in Ruabon, had previously been wholesale only and had established a large national clientele.
But the husband and wife team behind the business, Mark and Renee Thompson, wished to take the business “back to where they started” and open a serve-over counter to the public.
The counter opened today, and sells a range of gluten-free sweet treats including brownies, cakes and cookies, as well as hot and cold drinks and vegan options.
Mark, 40, who has a background in wholesale and retail, said it felt “really good” to finally open the bakery, which was aided by the Wrexham’s Strongest Man event taking place next door at Spartan Training Centre.
“We thought we may as well open to the public – we’ve got a much bigger office than what we needed so we’ve essentially halved the office size to create space for a serve-over counter,” Mark told Leader Live.
“Everything that we sell here is gluten-free, and we do a lot of vegan options as well – we’ve got a multitude of tray brakes, different types of cakes, cup cakes, cookies, as well as hot drinks and cold drinks.
“We always intended on opening it as a serve-over site.”
The Thompsons initially started their own grazing table catering company in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

The couple adapted, and began delivering postal brownie boxes, leading to Grazed.
Mark added: “We gained a large following from when we used to do letterbox brownies during Covid, so we always wanted to grow the brand locally again and go back to where we started.
“We had a great turnout, and Wrexham’s Strongest Man event was on next door so there has been a lot of footfall here today which has been really great.”
Grazed Bakery, which also create tasty treat boxes, is a certified gluten free bakery.
The serve-over will be open to the public Monday to Saturday, 10am-4pm. For more details, visit grazedbakery.co.uk.
