The A483 will face temporary restrictions starting next month.

The Welsh Government has announced an order for the A483 trunk road between Junction 1 (Ruabon Interchange) and the Wales/England border in Wrexham County Borough.

This order, made under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, is necessary for works on or near the A483 trunk road.

The order comes into effect on October 1 and is expected to operate intermittently for a maximum duration of 18 months.

The restrictions will be in place from 12.01am on October 1, with times and dates varying from site to site.

The order will temporarily prohibit all vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians from proceeding on specified lengths of the A483 within the overall length of the trunk road described in Schedule 1 of the notice.

However, emergency services and vehicles used for the works will be exempt.

Main carriageway closures are expected to be for short periods of time, where possible, and no alternative routes will be required.

However, for longer closures, alternative route arrangements for both main carriageway and slip road closures have been outlined in Schedule 2.

All abnormal loads over three metres will be prohibited from travelling along the alternative routes during the hours of darkness.

Arrangements will be made for such vehicles to park overnight when a prohibition is in place.

The order will also impose a 30mph, 40mph, or 50mph speed limit on the length of the A483 described in paragraph one of Schedule 1.

No overtaking will be permitted when the reduced speed limits are in force.

The specific lengths of the A483 affected by the order include the section from a point 800 metres south of the centre-point of Junction 1 (Ruabon Interchange) to the Wales/England border, north of Junction 7 (Rossett Interchange).

It also includes the northbound and southbound exit and entry slip roads at Junctions 1 to 7.

Alternative routes for main carriageway closures will be signposted and will vary depending on the destination and when a particular length of the A483 is temporarily closed to traffic.

These routes will be available via the A539, B5605, A5152, A525, A541, B5102, B5445, B5373, A550, and A55, as appropriate.

For slip road closures, alternative routes have been arranged.

For example, during the closure of the northbound entry slip road at Junction 1 (Ruabon Interchange), the alternative route will be via the westbound A539 and northbound B5605 to rejoin the A483 at Junction 3 (Croesfoel Interchange).

For the closure of the southbound exit slip road at Junction 1 (Ruabon Interchange), the alternative route will be via the southbound A483 to Halton Roundabout to return northbound and exit at Junction 1.

For northbound and southbound vehicles wishing to leave the A483 at Junctions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, the alternative route will be to remain on the A483, continue to the next interchange, exit, and return on the opposite carriageway to the desired location.

For northbound vehicles wishing to join the A483 at Junctions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, the alternative route will be to join the southbound carriageway of the A483, continue to the next interchange, exit, and return northbound.

The reverse applies for southbound vehicles wishing to join the A483.
