A FLINTSHIRE venue is hosting a night of live music in memory of a popular local mum who tragically lost her fight with cancer.
Linda Hughes, from Buckley, was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in 2020 after she fought it off nine years earlier.
Tragically, it had spread to her bones and was terminal. Linda died on December 3, 2020 at Nightingale House Hospice, aged 56.
Linda had always wanted her funeral wake to be a party - but, because of Covid rules, friends and family weren't able to hold one. They have organised a night of live music at the Tivoli in Buckley on October 12 to give Linda, who would have been 60 this year, the send off she never had.
Her niece, Claire Davies, said: "Linda was well loved around Buckley, and sorely missed. This is the party she wanted after her funeral, but couldn't have due to Covid.
"We thought it a good idea to do it now and she would have turned 60 next month."

Linda was a single mum to now 16-year-old Nathan. "She adored him with every breath that she had," Claire said.
"Nightingale House Hospice was brilliant. Linda spent four months in there and the care that they gave to her was out of this world. Visitors were limited because of Covid but they made sure that Linda and Nath could spend every possible precious moment together that they could. That time will never be replaced for Nath."
"Nathan has since, with the support of his close family, passed his GCSEs and is currently doing level 2 Engineering in Deeside College, we are all very proud of him."
The event will be raising money for Nightingale House, and will see popular Buckley rock band The Blueberry Hawks perform. There will also be a DJ set and a raffle.
Tickets are priced at £10 and can be bought from the Tivoli website, or via messaging Claire Davies on Facebook. People can also pay on the door on the night.
