A FANTASTIC foursome of Wrexham friends are taking a leap of faith for charity.

Friends since they were in nursery, the Rossett 16-year-olds, Millie Bevan, Jack Green, Leo Dowdeswell and Eddie Pearce-Davies, will be leaping out an aeroplane from 13,000ft and raising money for Hope House Tŷ Gobaith children's hospices.

The daring event takes place on Saturday, October 26, at Tilstock Airfield in Shropshire and will see the friends complete tandem skydives with up to 30 seconds of nerve-wracking freefall at speeds of up to 120mph.

Leo said: "There's no way you can prepare for something like this, but it will be worth it knowing we're supporting Hope House's work. We're all very excited for it."

The quartet, calling themselves The Rossett Skydivers, are aiming to raise £1,600 between them.

Eddie said: "I've had a bet with the others that if I don't raise my share then I'll have a crazy haircut, possibly the Ronaldo R9."

Some of the team have had adrenaline experiences before such as quad biking on holiday but Millie said: "I've never done anything like this before.

"I volunteered in Ghana last year, but this is the most extreme thing I'd have done,"

The enterprising friends have also taken part in other fundraising activities for the charity, including the Dragons' Lair initiative at Darland High School and during the Coronavirus lockdown, Leo raised £2,000 by taking on a 10k run when he was just 12-years-old.

Wrexham area fundraiser for the hospices, Bethan Young, said: "It's so encouraging to see young people getting involved in our charity. Especially in such a daring way.

"They really are very brave and very thoughtful as every penny they raise will help us to continue supporting children to live their best lives with their families.

"I wish Millie, Jack, Leo and Eddie all the luck in the world and know they'll absolutely love it and will make some real memories."
