WREXHAM'S MMA star Aaron Aby is set to fight in front of a crowd of 10,000 people in the next big fight of his career.

Aaron Aby is an athlete who lives with cystic fibrosis and was also told he ‘was going to die’ after being diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2017.

But, the 34-year-old - who is a die-hard Wrexham AFC fan - has defied all odds to become one of the few professional athletes in the UK with Cystic Fibrosis, despite being told he had a life expectancy of 16 years.

Aby’s inspiring journey includes overcoming that cancer scare in 2017 where doctors told him that he had three months to live and would never fight again.

Determined to prove them wrong, he fought his way through cancer and back into MMA and has been climbing through the ranks ever since.

Now, his latest upcoming fight - scheduled for OKTAGON 63 on Saturday, November 9 - he will be taking on former UFC veteran Zhalgas Zhumagulov.

The fight will take place in front of 10,000 fans at the Zimní stadion Ondřeje Nepely in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Aby, whose pro record stands at 16 wins, 9 draws and just the one loss so far, has twice challenged for OKTAGON MMA’s flyweight World Title, and a win against Zhumagulov would put him back in title contention.

Meanwhile, the opponent is making his promotional debut following back-to-back victories since his departure from the UFC, and is looking to make a statement on Europe’s biggest stage.

Following the fight announcement, Aby said: “What a fight! One of the biggest and toughest names to fight on one of the biggest cards of the year in Bratislava.

“I’m looking forward to putting on a show for the fans in a sold out arena. To be a part of another great card taking on an experienced UFC Vet is what dreams are made of. Against the odds we go again.”

OKTAGON 63 will also see Englishman Sam Creasey defend his flyweight belt against Georgian, Beno Adamia, with both Aby and Zhumagulov eyeing the victor.

The card will be headlined by Vemola vs Pirat 2, as two of OKTAGON MMA’s biggest stars battle it out.
