DECLAN SWANS' latest hit is being released on CD in order to raise money for a vital Wrexham project.

Over the last two years in particular, the band has risen to worldwide fame.

Appearances on the Welcome to Wrexham documentary garnered attention like never before for the band and the community too.

The band - made up of Mike Revill, Ben Jones, Mark Jones and Michael Hett - have been performing for over 20 years.

Their 'Always Sunny In Wrexham' hit is now played at the Racecourse before every Wrexham match and has become the catchy tune sung by all in the town.

And now, fans of the band can take the time to enjoy their newest hit - which has also been released on CD to raise money for the Miners Rescue Project.

Last month, 'Lost in the Dark "Gresford 1934"' was made available to listen to via Spotify and all other music platforms.

It is, as the name suggests, an ode to the colliery disaster which took place 90 years ago and claimed the lives of 266 men.

Over the weekend, the Wrexham community came together to mark the 90th anniversary of the tragic disaster.

And now, the band has confirmed that it will also be available in CD form for the cost of £5, to raise further money for what is an important project in Wrexham.

They said: "A cd is available of our new song Lost in the Dark “Gresford 1934” for anyone who would like a copy. They are priced at £5 and available from the miners rescue. Every penny is donated to the Wrexham Miners Project, please support a worthy cause."

Declan Swans' lead singer Michael Hett is a former miner himself, having followed in the footsteps of his Dad, Keith, who was the last working miner to ascend Bersham Colliery.

Aside from his role in the band, Michael also volunteers at the Miners Rescue project in Wrexham, with mining still very much running through his veins.

The Miners Rescue Station was purpose built, as required by the Coal Mines Act 1911, and was officially opened in November 1913 as a training centre for mine rescue teams.

The Wrexham Miners Project is now working to preserve the building in memory of the brave people who trained here and to provide a cultural hub for the local community.
