A HOUSE fire in Wrexham over the weekend was caused after lightning struck the property, it has been confirmed.
Firefighters were called to the house fire in Gresford on Saturday (September 21) shortly after 5pm.
A Met Office weather warning for thunderstorms was in place at the time of the incident, and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the cause of the fire was due to a lightning strike hitting the roof.
A fire service spokesperson said that four appliances were sent to the scene of the incident, two from Wrexham, one from Chirk and one from Deeside.
