A VILLAGE hall in Wrexham that was on the brink of closure has celebrated it's official reopening following a refurbishment.

The Rainbow Foundation hosted the reopening event for Piercy Hall, Marchwiel on Friday, September 20, following a refurbishment of the site.

The Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr Beryl Blackmore was in attendance to cut the ribbon and officially mark the reopening of the venue.

In addition, Clwyd South MS Ken Skates was in attendance, as was Leader of Wrexham Council, Mark Pritchard.

Piercy Hall operates as a community wellbeing hub in addition to being a community facility for hire which is run by the Rainbow Foundation.

With UK government funding, the Rainbow Foundation has refurbished the following:

The outside space, which was derelict, to be transformed into a fully accessible community space including a formal garden and nature garden

Toilets and changing facilities, which allows them to offer a changing places bathroom, this makes the premises accessible to all the community and also allows vulnerable clients access a shower locally with the care they need.

Additional office and room spaces, allowing them to bring more services to the local community, deliver their day opportunities service, and to return their lunch club, local interest groups, and community sessions.

The Rainbow Foundation's CEO Caroline Tudor-James said: "This is a real success story for the community of Marchwiel, the village hall was at risk of closure prior to Rainbow coming forward to run the premises, it is now a vibrant wellbeing hub delivering much-needed services for the community.

"Having the official opening today and showcasing all the work that has taken place is just brilliant. It's amazing to have seen the faces of our clients when they saw it all for the first time.

"We just want this to be a place for the community and our clients to use and enjoy, and hopefully the refurbishment can allow them to do that."
