A FLINTSHIRE man is taking on a running challenge in memory of his mum.
Tom Williams, from Mold, will be taking part in the Conwy Half Marathon on November 17, in aid of North East Wales Mind.
His mum, Angela Williams, from Flint, died aged 62 in a road collision in June 2023.
Tom, 34, explained that she had made use of her local Mind services in Flint.
He said: "I've spent my life supporting and learning from people struggling with their mental health.

"Mum taught me so much about mental wellbeing and resilience. She had experienced difficult times in her life, but picked herself up and carried on regardless.
"Her experiences gave her a deep empathy for other people, and the way she saw the world is something I'll always try strive to. Mum had time for everyone.
"After a very painful year for my family, this is an opportunity to remember mum and her spirit in a positive way, and support other people like her who deserve a bit of human kindness."

Tom, who has found the training "weirdly cathartic", initially set himself a target of £1,000 but after reaching that in a matter of days, he has raised it to £5,000.
He added: "It had been on my mind for a while about raising money for a cause that was close to mum.
"A couple of friends were already running the Conwy Half Marathon, and I'd wanted to keep it in Wales.
"There have been lot more tears since I went out with the JustGiving page. People have been so lovely and kind with their donations and support.

"Even if people just read about what kind of person mum was, that she got through so much hardship in a positive way, is a big thing for me.
"I really want to turn it into something a bit more positive. It was a difficult time for us as a family and it would be nice to close that of with something a bit uplifting, something more in mum's spirit."
