A bakery has launched a project to improve numeracy skills through baking.

Humble & Whole Bakery Limited, based in Rossett, Wrexham, will run "Baking by Numbers: Enhancing Community Numeracy through the Art of Baking & Bread-making," funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

This will involve hands-on workshops where participants will learn essential maths skills like measuring, calculating ratios, and understanding time while baking.

The workshops will also focus on sustainability and offer optional training on pricing goods for sale.

The project aims to equip participants with practical maths skills, foster community unity, and promote mental health through the therapeutic benefits of baking.

It also aims to celebrate diverse culinary traditions. Community groups interested in participating can contact Rebecca Griffiths at rebecca@humbleandwholebakery.org. Where possible, workshops will be held at the group's own venue.

Rebecca Griffiths, managing director of Humble & Whole Bakery, said: "We believe that baking is a fantastic way to make learning fun and accessible.

"We're excited to bring this pilot project to Wrexham and help people of all ages and abilities build confidence in their numeracy skills."
