A WREXHAM illustrator has revealed a new design to mark a special anniversary in Wrexham this weekend.
Sunday, September 22 will mark 90 years since the tragedy of the Gresford Mining Disaster.
The city is hosting an array of events to remember the 266 lives sadly lost all those years ago.
As part of the memorial events, local artist Liam Stokes-Massey has been commissioned by an American Wrexham AFC fan to design a logo in order to raise more awareness and proceeds for the Miners Rescue Centre.
A spokesperson from the centre said: "We loved the logo and with the help of Macron Wrexham, have put it on a t-shirt and some badges. These are only available from the Wrexham Miners Project at the moment.
"We would like to thank our American friend, Liam, Wendy at Macron, the Declan Swans and Colin from Music and Sport WXM for this launch."
The special Gresford pin badge and t-shirt featuring the new logo are available once a £5 or £25 donation has been made. All proceeds will go to the centre's Education Fund.
The fan from New York, who wishes to remain anonymous, has said: "It was truly an honour to work with Liam and The Rescue on this idea.
"My motivation is purely out of love for the people of the town. In the states, whenever there is a milestone, we mark it with something special.
"I hope this draws attention to the disaster. This logo is the 'hook', I want to increase local engagement, not just for the anniversary but all year round."
Liam added: "I’m delighted to share this logo made for Wrexham Miners Project’s 90th Anniversary of the Gresford Disaster Memorial.
"It means a lot to be involved in the commemoration of such an important part of our history."

The Wrexham Miners Recue Centre is situated on Maesgwyn Road, just a short walk from the Stok Cae Ras.
It aims to save and restore all history of the Gresford Disaster by building a strong community through its museum, cafe and social groups.
The pins and t-shirts are available with limited stock this weekend, but the project will continue throughout the year to generate profits for the building.
