SHOCKING statistics have been revealed by the DVLA concerning the number of untaxed vehicles across Wrexham and Flintshire.
Over the past 12-months, a total of 266 vehicles have been clamped across the Wrexham area compared to 82 vehicles in the CH1 and CH4 areas of Flintshire.
The enforcement action has ben taken as part of the day-to-day enforcement activity of NSL, a partner organisation of the DVLA, identifying, clamping and impounding untaxed vehicles.
Drivers who have had their cars clamped will have to call the number on the back of the INF32 leaflet that was left in a notice on their vehicle to get it released, and pay for the road tax as well as a £100 release fee.
A DVLA spokesperson said: “Whilst over 98% of vehicles on the road are taxed correctly, DVLA is committed to tackling untaxed vehicles.
“We have a range of enforcement measures including fines and penalties and are working hard with our national wheel-clamping partner to clamp untaxed vehicles on our roads.

“It is easy for drivers to pay their vehicle tax, including using our quick and accessible online services.”
The authority does not have to spot an untaxed car on the road to take action, as it operates a range of enforcement measures including fines and penalties as well as on-the-road enforcement such as wheel clamping.
DVLA offers a range of options to make it easy for drivers to pay their vehicle tax, including using the quick and easy online services, which are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and drivers can also pay by direct debit.
