A TIMELY piece of history has been shared with the Leader marking the anniversary of the Gresford Disaster.
It is a series of 'In Memoriam' pages from the Wrexham Leader, in the weeks after the tragedy.
Shared by Peter Gauterin, from Farndon, they feature images, names and addresses of all those who died.
The first of the three articles appeared on September 28, 1934, less than a week after the disaster. With the others following on October 5 and 12.

The edition, which bears the headline: ‘In Memoriam of the Gresford Colliery Disaster’, shows the faces and names of the men killed in the disaster.
It features a message from King George V, wired from Balmoral, which reads: “The Queen and I are grieved to hear of the disaster at Gresford Colliery this morning and I feel deeply for the miners involved and the terrible sorrow and anxiety of their family and friends.
“Will you please convey to all this message of our heartfelt sympathy and keep me informed of the gallant efforts that are being made to rescue the miners?”
