REPORTS of anti-social behaviour and vandalism have increased in Bronwen's Green, Wrexham.

For the second time, a defibrillator box has been smashed despite Brymbo Community Council working tirelessly to improve the area for all residents.

Picnic benches have also been damaged, as well as recent reports of fly-tipping.

Local councillor for Brymbo Paul Rogers has issued a statement on the disappointing news. He said: "Unfortunately the defibrillator at Bronwen's Green has been damaged for a second time."

"Brymbo Community Council who funded the defibrillator are currently looking at relocating it to a nearby location in the hope that there will be a reduced risk of vandalism.

"Over recent months we have seen an increase in anti social behaviour at Bronwen's Green.

"In addition to the ongoing issues with fly tipping, a number of picnic benches were damaged within weeks of them being installed and only last week a number of goalposts were vandalised.

"Brymbo Community Council have worked tirelessly to improve this area for the community and local football teams.

"Unfortunately incidents like this cost the council money which means that there's less to spend on other things."

Councillor Rogers confirmed he had discussed the issue with the local PCSO and was going to raise the issue with secondary schools in the area adding that there had been a wave of incidents in Brymbo and surrounding villages.

"These incidents are frustrating however not confined to Brymbo", he added.

"From what I have seen on social media there is an ongoing wave of anti social behaviour in the Brymbo and Broughton areas. It needs to be acknowledged, incidents need to be reported and the police need to lead an approach working with Community Councils and partners to get a grip of this".

An image of the damaged defibrillator box was shared on social media by an anonymous participant. Describing it as "mindless damage", they said "This is damage to a piece of equipment that one day maybe called upon to help save a member of your family or friends.

"Someone will know who has carried out this, to a unit that I and many others have seen the advantages of having to hand in working order.

"And also seeing the pain on those affected by not having the opportunity to try to help till medical support arrives. Education of the consequences and awareness of their actions is so needed, before too late."
