A NEWLY-launched cake business in Wrexham has been targeted by thieves once again despite additional security measures in place.
The Curious Cakery launched in August 2024 by Emily Francis-Headon from New Broughton, offering deliciously-tempting homemade baked goods - with a twist.
The business operates from a quirky converted front garden shed featuring an honesty box which is available so that customers may take an item and pay for it of their own accord.
Sadly, Emily's trust has been abused multiple times as the business has been continuously targeted by thieves with cakes being taken despite no payments being made.
Last month, the shed closed temporarily while police launched an investigation and Emily installed CCTV. Now, she has introduced a doorbell camera to access the shed, but once again, this has not prevented the theft.
She said: "You need to ring the doorbell camera to access the shed but still somehow we're quite a lot of money down.
"Everyone is on camera but without zooming in at what everyone is doing, it's impossible to know who is taking.
"Even with the additional security measures in place with our lovely little cake shed, we have unfortunately had over £50 worth of goods not paid for over the weekend.
"We are hopeful that this has not been intentional."

It has been Emily's dream to launch a little cake shop for some time, and after her wife Jayne spotted a used caravan for sale, she knew this was her moment.
While the converted shed remains in her front garden, Emily also takes her business on the road to special events inside the refurbished caravan.
Despite the challenges, the business has been a hit on Gatewen Road. If you fancy a treat, head on down and see what's on offer today!
