SEVEN people have been arrested as part of an investigation into a road traffic collision in which a six-year-old boy was seriously injured.

The incident involved a motorbike and occurred on Central Drive in Shotton on Wednesday evening, and saw a child airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

North Wales Police said on Friday evening that a 14-year-old boy, a 17 year old boy, a 38 year old man, a 41 year old woman and an 18 year old woman were all arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

A 24 year old woman was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender.

Police all have been released on conditional police bail whilst the investigation continues.

A 16 year old male, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision, and failing to report a road traffic collision.

He has also been interviewed and released on conditional bail, police said.

Superintendent Jon Bowcott said: “I would like to reassure the local community that our investigation is progressing, and we continue to gather evidence to ensure we can establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“Our thoughts remain with the child and their family at this worrying time.
