Flint Coastguard Rescue Team is calling for applications as it seeks to add new members to its operation.

The team has issued an appeal for the rewarding volunteer role, with applications being accepted until October 4.

A spokesman said: "We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join our coastguard rescue team in this area.

"HM Coastguard is the UK’s 999 maritime and coastal emergency service.

"As a volunteer coastguard rescue officer, you could be involved in a range of situations, from mud, cliff and water rescues to searches for missing people.

Other duties the Coastguard Rescue Service carries out include: 

  • Observing and reporting pollution and other hazards such as cliff erosion
  • Helping emergency services and local authorities during emergencies, for example flooding
  • Gathering information for the coastguard operations centre
  • Going to schools, clubs and other public places to tell people about staying safe at sea and along the coast
  • Carrying out duties for the Receiver of Wreck, for example dealing with wreckage or dead whales and dolphins on the shoreline
